Richard “Dick” Murray

Richard “Dick” Murray, Elkhart High School (1954)

Dick was a multi-sport star athlete at EHS, shining in football, basketball and track. In football, he was a 2-year All-Conference and All-State performer and played in the North-South All-Star game. 2-year varsity career in basketball; 1954 team went to the Final 4. In track, he set EHS career point total record as well as high jump and long jump records. In a meet with Goshen, he earned a blue ribbon in high jump, long jump, shot put, and high hurdles. Murray was All-Conference three years. Dick went on to multi-sport achievements at Indiana State University where he played football (3 letters; All-Conference once), basketball and golf (2nd in conference twice; captain; once shot a 63).
