Matthew Ronzone II

Matt Ronzone, Elkhart Memorial High School (1987)

Following a great running career at Elkhart Memorial HS, one of Matt’s coaches cited his ambition and perseverance and said, “He’s a leader by example.” He was co-captain of both the cross-country and track teams his senior year; lettered three years in cross-country and four years in track. Matt was team MVP two years in each sport. In track: 1600m Sectional Champ (’85, ’86, ’87), Regional Champ ((86), 3rd in State Meet (’86); 3200m Sectional Champ and State Qualifier (’86). In cross-country: Sectional Champ (‘ 84), Semi-State Champ (‘ 86), 5th in State Meet (’86) Matt received All-State honors 1984, 1985 and 1986. Matt ran cross-country and track for Notre Dame for four years. He also competed in international meets in Kenya and China. Matt was honored with the Tim Bringle Award for Elkhart athletes in 1987. He indicates that a highlight of his running career was “cross-country team finishing 4th at State in 1986.”
