Jim Powell

JAMES POWELL, CONCORD HIGH SCHOOL, 1960

Jim won 10 varsity letters for the Minutemen, four in baseball and three each in basketball and track. He ran the 440 (57.1), the 880 (2:08), mile (4:46) and the mile relay (3:47). A shortstop, Jim had a .927 career fielding percentage and a .424 batting average. His 1960 team finished at 10-0. Jim was a county tournament All-Star as a junior and senior and was named to the all-sectional team in 1960. Jim was named Most Valuable Player for Concord during his junior season, when the Minutemen were unbeaten until the sectional. He scored 829 points during his career and helped Concord post an overall record of 42-3 in 1959-60.
