Jim Eger, Elkhart Memorial High School (Coach)</p>
Jim was an outstanding three-sport athlete at Elkhart High School and was named a winner of the Bringle Award, emblematic of the top senior male athlete in Elkhart. He has proven to be an outstanding coach, at LaPorte High School from 1959-1963, at Elkhart High School from 1963-1972 and at Memorial High School from 1972-present. Jim has coached track for forty-six years, football for forty years and basketball for four years. His track teams as head coach posted a 212-43 record including on IHSAA State Championship, five Regional titles, seventeen Sectional titles, seventeen Northern Indiana Conference titles and four Goshen Relays Championships. During Jim’s tenure as an Assistant Track Coach his teams have won an additional six conference titles and eight Sectional titles. While assistant at LaPorte H.S., E.H.S. and E.M.H.S., he helped teams to five unbeaten seasons, nine conference titles, one Sectional title and three “mythical” State Championships. While attending college at Western Michigan University he competed in football and track and was elected Co-captain of the 1958 W.M.U. football squad.
