Duane “Pete” Peterson, Elkhart High School (1952)

Pete was a two-sport athlete for the Blue Blazers and was particularly outstanding in basketball, helping his team to Sectional, Regional and NIC Championships. Pete set a Sectional tournament record for points served with 91 and was named All-NIC, All-Sectional, All-Regional and earned All-State Honorable Mention. Having earned a basketball scholarship to Michigan State, Pete averaged 10 points, 11.5 rebounds per game as a starter his junior and senior years. He was named as winner of the MSU Sportsmanship Award his senior year. He is a member and founder of the Elkhart Community School C.O.A.C.H. program.
