ANNETTE EVANS, Northridge High School, 1988

Annette lettered one year in volleyball and twice as student athletic trainer, but she earned four letters in softball and pitched the Raiders to the 1988 IHSAA Softball Championship. She set a state final record of fewest walks allowed, two (in three games), and was just two strikeouts short of the record with 22 in the tournament. Special honors included Indiana Mental Attitude Award; U.S. Army Reserves Student Athlete/Scholar Recipient; Middlebury Exchange Club Student Athlete of the Month; NLC All-Conference 1988 (first year Northridge was a member of NLC); Northridge High Mental Attitude winner 1986-88, and MVP 1988. Her senior year included two no-hit games, 191 strikeouts in 167 innings, just 28 walks, 91 hits and 28 earned runs for an ERA of 1.17.
